UNIVERSITY OF AGRIBUSINESS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

University of Agribusiness and Rural Development is the successor of Higher School ‘Agricultural College’.

Higher School ‘Agricultural College’ was founded on October 23rd, 1992 by a decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria. Since 1993 the Higher School has provided for students scholarships and traineeships raineeships in Europe and the U.S.A.

Since 1994 several projects have been carried out, funded by the European Union under Programs Tempus, Phare, Interreg, Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates - Comenius.

In 2000, the National Assembly converted Agricultural College into into an independent higher education institution.
That same year Centre for Integration and Culture was revealed with a library and academic publishing house.

In 2001 a new central training and administration corpus of the college was opened in Plovdiv.

In 2003, the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency gave an institutional accreditation.
That same year a Centre for Sustainable Agriculture Agriculture was opened under Leonardo da Vinci Program.

In 2005, a Distance Learning Centre was established by a decision of the Academic Council.

In 2009, successful accreditation and certification procedures were completed - respectively NEAA and ISO 9001:2008.


By a decision of the National Assembly from 06.07.2011 (promulgated in State Gazette 54/15.07.2011) Higher School ‘Agricultural College’ was transformed into University of Agribusiness and Rural development, which provides training in ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Master’ degrees.

In 2012 the University of Agribusiness and Rural development became a member of the Alliance of Central Eastern European Universities.

In 2015 UARD became a member of the Visegrad University Association (VUA).

THE DISTANCE LEARNING CENTRE THE DISTANCE LEARNING CENTRE at the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development was created by a Decision of the Academic Council in response to the real public needs of tertiary education received by distance learning.

At present, the Centre offers the opportunity to acquire educational-qualification degree ‘Bachelor’ in the fields of Agricultural Economics , “Business Management” ,Economics of Tourism ” and Finance. It also offers a ‘Master’ degree in Business Management , and “Finance and Banking”. . The training is carried out by well-known professors, associate professors and assistants, as well as by well-established experts from the practice. Students receive theoretical and practical training according to the studied subject, ensuring the international comparability of the acquired knowledge and the acquired skills.

The diploma issued as a result of distance learning is equivalent to that of a full-time mode of attendance regarding the content of the curriculum and the required number of credits in the respective specialty, according to Article 4 of the Ordinance on the State Requirements for Organization of Distance Learning in Higher Schools.
